Helms College is for everyone. People starting, people transitioning, and people just trying to figure out exactly where it is they want to be.
Helms offers a lot of experiences with many different fields. We have a medical program and HVAC program. I'm in the culinary program. So as a part of that, I'm learning you know, all the kitchen stuff as well as baking. And that was like really awesome.
We have our certified medical assistant program, as well as our dialysis technician program. It gives them an immersive experience with hands-on training.
I've always wanted to cook of course, which is why I came to culinary school. They've helped me network with a lot of different chefs.
Our students actually work in actual restaurants through their schooling. They'll work in our Edger's restaurant, our Pinnacle Club's restaurants, as well as working for our Snelling Center, which is our convocation center, where students will be able to gain experience in actual active live roles of restaurant service as well as banquets and catering, giving them that the skills they needed once they graduate.
Students learn to practice the skills needed for that particular scope of practice that they plan on going into. It allows them to be prepared for when they go out there especially on their externships and then helps them with a smoother transition into the employment realm. It speaks volumes when our students are hired immediately out of their externship into the facility that they're training in. It shows that we have prepared our students with the skills that they need to succeed.
