Why I would recommend a student to come here is because we are a smaller campus. And because we have smaller classroom settings, we're able to give you more hands-on training. We're able to sit down with you and actually go through the homework with you.
When I came to Helms College, and I walked through the school and I immediately looked into the labs, I was like, "This is the place!"
One of the things that attracted me to Helms College was affordability of tuition. It's very low cost compared to other schools that I was looking at.
Not only do they go to school at an affordable rate, they get an awesome education.
I'll have a lot of students that just graduated high school and don't have a ton of self-confidence just yet. So I love that I'm able to be that mentor for people I'm able to cheer them on.
In the past, I said, "I want to never come to school ever again!" But most of the time, I look forward to actually coming to the school. You've the people here, the classmates, my instructors. It's just a great time!
The students get very involved with each other. So if somebody misses class today, you know, they're calling, "Hey, why weren't you in class?" They look out for each other. So they're picking each other up. They make group texts. They study together.
We have students that have graduated years ago that still come to us for questions. When you leave Helms College, you're not just leaving here with the degree you're leaving here with a network.
We worked with different offices and businesses in the community and put those students to work before they actually graduate. So they get hands-on experience. So once they graduate, they're able to go out and actually start working.
